Join ocean lifeguards team in North Myrtle Beach and spend your days guarding Atlantic ocean. Imagine how tanned you will be at the end of summer 🙂 To become an ocean lifeguard at the beach you have to be good swimmer eligible to swim 500 meters in less than 10 minutes and able to act quickly.
After arrival to North Myrtle Beach you will participate in 7-day Lifeguard Academy. Returning guards should attend 2- day recertification.
Start date: June 9th, 2019 (or May 12th for first LG Academy)
End date: September 2nd – 14th, 2019
We recommend to arrive until June 8 as Lifeguard Academy starts June 9 at 7 AM.
All applicants must provide the employer Criminal Background Check as The Beach Patrol is a Division of City Municipality.

The information is valid for 2018 season only, it may change for 2019 season before this autumn:
Wage: first-timer $11.00/hour, second-timer up to $13.00/hour
Overtime: no overtime wage, lifeguards are working normally 50-60 hours per week
Pay frequency: bi-weekly
# of days per week: 5-7
# of hours per week: 40-60 in avarage
# of hours per week in 2018: 58
$400.00 summer bonus for all returning guards
$600.00 summer bonus for all rookie guards
Guards hours are actually 9 to 6 and on stand 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Uniform: All uniforms provided at no cost to the employee 🙂
We recommend to have backpack and watch to take them to the beach.
Housing: Not provided
Students can find 3-months rentals in hotels, motels in the area. Expected cost of housing $300-500/month + security deposit. Utilities are usually included.
How to get to work? Walk, bike, scooter or car
Bike costs aprox $100, possible to buy cheap used bikes in good condition in Student Centre close to North Myrtle Beach bus station. Commuting time depends on location of your housing.
