Lifeguard in New Jersey – HUD

!NO WEEKENDS OFF (Friday-Sunday)!

All of the properties are luxury apartments that require great customer service. The pool and pool area must be clean all the time. It is also your responsibility to verify that every person that visits the facility is a resident of the property and must sign in.  The majority of pools are just for one guard. 

NO LIFEGUARDS are allowed to touch anything in the pump rooms unless someone from our company specifically tells them what to do.

Uniform:  may be purchased online via a website we are in the process of setting up.  Students are required to purchase the following:

• 1 Hoodie
• 2 t-shirts
• Pair of shorts
• Whistle

A one-piece bathing suit must also be worn by all female students.

First timers: $14/hour

Returnees: $15/hour

Overtime: 1.5x base wage to be paid for hours worked over 40 per week

Pay frequency: bi-weekly

# of days per week: 5-6 days

# of hours per week: 40-50 hours per week

Students, who decide to work in Short Hills, Verona, Englewood, Morris Plains and Union will be paid higher than regular starting rate.

Housing: not provided

Once the students find housing accommodations they are interested in, they send us the information. We then meet with the person renting to verify that everything is according to what is advertised. It’s happened in the past that students find something on Craigslist or something like that, and it turns out to be fake. So, we do this as an added layer of protection for the students.

Before coming to the USA you need to find your housing and report manager current situation with your searching to the employer. The employer prefers to use the Airbnb website when finding accommodations after students get the placement for all 2023 season. Max. capacity for one apartment is 6 persons.

Do not expect to be free on the weekends or holidays.  The majority of the swimming pools are open six or seven days per week, including Saturday and Sunday. Please expect your work schedule to include working on the weekends and having days off during the week, as our pools are the busiest on weekends.

How to get to work? Walk, bike, car, electric scooter, public transportation (subway)
Students usually buy bikes which cost approx. $100.

Pick-up at the airport: not provided

Lifeguards should try to arrive at Newark International Airport in Newark, NJ. It is the closest airport to the pool locations and public transportation is easily available. The employer advises you to go straight to your accommodations and contact them as soon as you are settled in so they can plan to meet with you. If you have any troubles, you can always call the employer.

Public transportation in New Jersey and New York is reliable and connects all the major areas. You can easily get from Jersey City, NJ to Manhattan by train, bus or ferry in half an hour.
