The Downtown Put in Bay main street is home to this fun sales store and is located just steps from the fabulous DeRivera Park and the waters of Lake Erie.

Position Description:

Participants working at The Maple Cottage will work in one of the busiest shops on the Island! As a sales or retail associate, participants will be restocking shelves, working the cash register at check out, assisting customers with merchandise, as well as helping with questions or problems.

They will also be straightening the store and cleaning the store during quiet hours, or before or after the store is open. Additional duties include setting up displays, arranging merchandise, and stamping or tagging pricing on merchandise. Sales clerks may also need to keep a record of sales, prepare inventory of stock, or order merchandise.

Participants must have a working knowledge of U.S. currency, must be friendly and courteous to customers, and have excellent customer service, math, and English skills.

The work is highly customer oriented. Participants must also be willing to do various cleaning jobs and must be willing to work on their feet all day. This is a great job for someone who likes to move around a lot, be busy, and not sit in one place for their entire shift. You must arrive by the date agreed upon at the interview, and listed on your work offer, and are expected to work until the last day listed on your work offer.

You will be expected to arrive to work on time, every day, and dressed in proper attire. The Maple Cottage has high standards of cleanliness and guest service. You will be expected to make sure you perform your job responsibilities as taught in training and according to company standards. Since you will have interaction with the guests, advanced English is required.

Pay Rate: USD 10-12

Starting pay rate is $10.00 per hour.
There is a possibility of a pay increase to $12.00 per hour once training has been completed and based on performance. Those employees with great attendance and strong work ethic will have the opportunity for a pay increase.

Typical Schedule: You will work a variety of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. Set schedules cannot be guaranteed. Working Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays is required

Additional Hours Details: You will work an average of 30-45 hours per week over the course of your program. Some weeks could be more, some weeks could be less depending on business needs. Hours may be less during times of bad weather.

Housing is located within walking distance of the work location and close to the shops, restaurants, and parks of Put-in-Bay. Housing is dormitory style with two rooms connected by a bathroom. Two people per bedroom. Rooms are furnished with a refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, dressers and bunk beds. All Utilities are included in the rent.
