Firsttimers: $15.5/hour
Returnees: $16/hour (whether they worked for us or another lifeguard company previously)
Total average summer wage: $10382 (This figure is based on a student survey. The amount depends on the start date, end date, and total number of working hours)
Days per week: 5-6 days, guaranteed hours per week: 43-50 on average, hours per week in 2025: 49
Overtime: wage is 1.5x normal rate for any hours over 40 in a given week
$1,000 bonus for the first 15 hired lifeguards who arrive and start working by May 22, 2026 (paid in 1st paycheck in the USA).
$150 bonus to any student who stays until the end of the summer and does not get in trouble throughout the season
Provided (all students employed by this employer must reside in provided housing). Estimated cost of housing for the whole season is $1878 (deducted bi-weekly); utilities are included, except internet and cable;
+ refundable deposit $250 due upon arrival (employer will still give the students the option to pay $50 when they arrive, then they can deduct the remaining $200 from their paychecks or employer can collect the full $250 in cash at arrival). The cost of housing will be the same for all participants no matter when you arrive and start working for this employer.
Apartments will be furnished with a sofa and love seat, dining table and chairs, lamps and telephone. Bedrooms are furnished with 1 twin bed (mattress, box spring and frame) per person, 1 night stand per person, bedding (pillow, sheets and blanket), bathrooms will be provided a shower curtain. Kitchens will be supplied with plasticware (knives, forks, spoons), plastic plates, bowls and cups, toaster and dish washer (kitchenware not included). Washer and dryer may be in unit or in building.
Apartments will have 2 to 3 bedrooms, 2 to 3 tenants per room, with 5 to 7 tenants per unit.
Housing may be located in Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax, Oakton and Centreville. Housing is no more than between 8-10 kilometers away from their pools and many are much closer than that.
Students will be given an opportunity to request specific areas to live as well as choosing roommates for the summer.

Pools are located in condos or apartments, complexes and neighborhoods, including recreation clubs, homeowners and community associations.
How to get to work? Walk, bike, or public transportation
Students usually ride a bike to and from work, pools are 20-40 minutes by bike from apartments.
Some students recommend running to and from job site as good exercise.
Students will be given an opportunity to purchase bikes (at their own expense) upon arrival.
Atlantic Pool Service also recommends students purchase a bike helmet, lock and light.

See the stars in Rock Creek Park at the only planetarium operated by the National Park Service. Tours of the night sky are free.
